Anna, our property manager was helpful, prompt coming back to enquiries and we just always felt like they were across everything which gave us real peace of mind. Anytime we dealt with anyone else in the team, this experience was replicated and we only left because we bought a property. Just finalized multi year tenancy with Clan Gordon. I'm fully satisfied and can recommend the agency.

They deal with all the maintenance issues and requests quickly. You report problems using a dedicated website, which makes everything clear and transparent, by keeping all parties accountable. When I had other types of questions, I sent them by email. They always addressed it professionally and within reasonable timeframe. Contract finalization and deposit return went without an issue. There were small deductions to the deposit, but I consider them understandable.

I think Clan Gordon is a good example of how agencies should operate.

A really good experience dealing with Clan Gordon to arrange renting our new flat. They were quick to respond and informative each time we needed them and even went above and beyond on key pick up as we arrived into Edinburgh past their office hours but they were flexible enough that we could meet them in Edinburgh to pick up the keys later in the evening. They made the renting process very easy, especially for my wife who had just moved to the UK from the US and they were understanding of her situation. Also the viewing agent was really helpful and knowledgeable. Would use again if needed! Krisztina, Malin, Euan and Mike were our contacts who all did great jobs!

Having rented in Edinburgh for the last 7 years from several letting agents I feel a review for Clan Gordon and their top tier service and professionalism is justified. I feel their letting agents (particularly Anna who we have dealt with) have a genuine care and compassion for their landlords and the up keep of their property's. We have been subject to several inspections in our short space of renting with them and Anna has pointed out cares to be wary of and guidance to pre empt any potential work that may need done to the property. I have rented off previous agents who I feel abused the landlords trust by getting multiple evaluations on work subsequently done by cowboy tradesman. We were welcomed to this property with a tenants pack on upkeep of all appliances and have experienced nothing but a positive response to any small works that needed done. Clan Gordon have a fantastic team and a responsive system to ensure both up keep of their property's and tenant and landlord satisfaction. I don't usually write reviews but I feel this is warranted due to their professionalism . If I was to let a property I would trust Clan Gordon.

As Landlords, we've been using Clan Gordon for many years and have found them to be a very professional team every step of the way, from advice on getting our properties ready for rental, setting competitive rents and on-going support, when issues arise in any of the properties. Most recently, Anna has been an excellent support in sourcing and managing contractors and assisting us with the refurbishment of one of our flats. Euan secured a new tenant very quickly for us after the work had been carried out. From start to finish everything was dealt with efficiently and professionally. Looking for a flat in a different city is always a stressful race, and competition for visits can be fierce, but the way they handle everything, from booking just a few people at a time, to following up regularly with applicants, differentiates them for the better. Worst experience ever—avoid this agency at all costs!

I’ve rented from private landlords before, but dealing with this agency was by far the worst experience. They consistently tried to take advantage of me as a tenant, particularly when it came to my rights and the deposit. Despite reporting a pre-existing bathroom wall issue before I even moved in, they ignored it for the entire six months I lived there. Even after I explicitly warned them that I would not accept responsibility for the damage, they attempted to deduct it from my deposit.

The agency had inspected the property just days after I moved in but never informed me of any existing issues, including a shower that had been illegally installed by my flatmate, who had already been living there for three years. Before I reported the peeled wall in my bathroom, neither the agency nor the landlady had ever raised any concerns about this shower, it had never been brought to their attention. Once I brought it to their attention, they claimed that the peeling wall was due to the improper installation of the shower and refused to fix the wall at their own cost.

Instead of resolving the issue, the agency continuously pressured us to remove the shower, even though I had no part in its installation. This left me distressed and anxious throughout my tenancy, as I was constantly worried about not being able to take proper showers. For the entire last 4 months, I ended up using my partner’s shower because I was worried that they agency will impute the damage to me if I would keep taking showers there.

Despite their threats and demands, the agency never took responsibility for the issue, leaving the shower in place while I dealt with the stress. They also tried to hold me accountable for the damage, even though it was clearly caused by my flatmate. Only after weeks of persistence—backed by proof and evidence, including emails I had sent before my move-in day and at other times—did the agency admit that I should be excluded from any deposit deductions. I fought hard to make my case and thought I had won the battle when they finally agreed.

However, when the repayment request was sent to the deposit scheme, something went wrong. Despite the agency agreeing with me, the deposit scheme still processed a 50/50 split of the deductions between me and my flatmate. As a result, I ended up losing money for a problem I never caused. The agency later claimed that my flatmate, as the lead tenant, had re-arranged the split, and the deposit scheme simply proceeded with the request without seeking my permission or giving me the chance to dispute it.

I’m sharing this to protect other tenants from going through the same ordeal. Even when I thought I had resolved the issue, the deposit scheme allowed the lead tenant to adjust the split without my consent. I hope this unfair policy changes someday so that tenants like me aren’t left powerless in similar situations.
This entire experience was incredibly stressful and frustrating. Be cautious when dealing with joint tenancy agreements and joint deposit schemes with this agency. If you don’t know the other tenant, you may end up being held accountable for issues that aren’t your fault.
