This 5 star review is directed at Emma who was on the reception when I visited on 16/10/2024. After a mix up with my Mums prescription I was back and forward from the chemist and the surgery yesterday until the helpful ladies at the chemist called the surgery and spoke to Emma. Between them they sorted the issue and updated me with a phone call later that day. Emma arranged for me to collect the prescription today. I wish everyone on the reception was as helpful as Emma.

Can’t thank the staff at the practice enough for seeing my son today with an infection.
It was my mum that spoke to the receptionist and she said that she couldn’t have been any nicer and she was very helpful.
I took him in to see Dr Blackmore and I can’t praise him enough. My son was hysterically laughing from the minute he went in to the minute we left. He also couldn’t wait to tell his dad the stories about the doctor when we got home.
Dr Blackmore was excellent and instantly made my son feel at ease.

Dr Blackmore could not have been more helpful, friendly and professional. He saw my little boy to put my mind at ease after he took a reaction to his 12 month vaccines. He was brilliant with my son, going all out to put him at ease and entertain him, all the while helping to reassure me, as well as helping a student doctor learn. I have been with this practice for around 12/13 years, and I highly recommend the doctors, nurses and reception staff! Thank you!!
The only downside to the premises is that you cannot take a pram or buggy in, which isn’t always ideal when you have to go for an appointment where you really could be doing with the help of a buggy.

I’d like to personally thank Dr Blackmore & all of the other staff at the Bo’ness Rd practice for their dedicated care, especially over the past few years whilst my general health wasn’t great. The care I received was excellent. From my first point of contact with the helpful & friendly reception staff & with all the other health care professionals I have received treatment & advice from. I thank you all most sincerely for everything you have done to aid my recovery from cancer.

Original Review Sept 2024:
SHOCKING: Having moved from Forth Medical Group (see my review on Google) I suffer from mental health issues, which have been getting worse. I tried last week, by telephone, to get an appointment to see a clinician but was fobbed off by reception on several occasions. Having chatted online last night to breathing space I was advised to go to them first thing this morning and get an appointment immediately. The receptionist was putting out the prescription box at 08:00 hrs and refused me entry as I didn't have an appointment and said I couldn't come in and make an appointment, I had to phone up! I am now waiting on a callback, 24th in the queue and will most likely be fobbed off again. Callback from reception - Mental Health Nurse 2nd October! So had to spell out what Dark thoughts meant! GP callback before 11am today

UPDATE 24/1/25: I emailed the practice this morning "Good Morning and sorry for the short notice.
I see this morning that I only have enough meds to see my through to Sunday.
I normally take my prescription to the Right Medicine Pharmacy in Cowie ( where I work):"
Is it possible you could phone my repeat through to them first thing this morning and I can pick it up like I usually do around 11:00 hrs? If this is not possible can I please pick it up for the surgery early this afternoon ?"

I got the standard fobbing off response"This clinical email is not used to request repeat medication and we will be unable to process this request. You can hand in a repeat slip with this request or fill out a request form at the surgery. The turn-around times for routine medications is 3 working days."

I phoned up and all I got was the receptionist (name removed at the request of Dr Blackmore) telling me the same stuff as the email or to send a note via the app. Which doesn't have that option for that particular meds.

I subsequently contacted the Cowie Pharmacy and thankfully are issuing me with an Emergency prescription today to cover me.

The question is why couldn't my GP Surgery have done this?

I've had a great visit with Dr Blackmore today. He's always available to speak to and is a great troubleshooter. Always making sure that I'm comfortable and trying to find the root cause of my concerns. Thank you very much Dr Blackmore

Review based on my experience with doctor Blackmore who was everything you could ask for in a doctor. Very helpful and showed a real interest in my wellbeing. Exactly what I’m looking for when I have to see the doctor.
