I had reserved a Dollar car through rentalcars.com a few weeks before flying into San Antonio on 9/10. I checked in at the desk with no problem and proceeded to the garage, and that's where the problem started! There were about 10-15 customers ahead of me waiting for cars. Many had been waiting 1-2 hours!!! There were NO cars in the garage at ALL, and 3 companies were combined: Dollar, Thrifty, and Hertz. I felt bad for the frazzled employees, but comunication was extremely poor, almost non-existent. The garage was completely empty of cars! They should at the very least advise customers at the desk that there are no cars available so other arrangements can be made before going through the motions. I can't understand how reservations can be accepted if there are no cars. I've never experienced anything this crazy with car rentals before! I cut my losses after 45min-1hr and canceled and made other pick up arrangements. I was one of the fortunate ones that had that option. I contacted rentalcars.com immediately and at least I was able to get a full refund.

This is the Spirit airlines of car rentals. It's cheap up front but then when you arrive there are mandated insurance levels they make you pay for within the fine print of the contract. Then, I spent 10 minutes in a back-and-forth with the lady at the counter trying to upsell to a larger vehicle for a "deal" of just an additional $300.00. I tried to use a debit card for the hold and they said a debit card is three times the charge at $500 plus a credit check versus using a credit card. What? I've never before had a deposit for a car rental be more than $100 and have never been forced to use and pay for a 3rd party insurance that is not my own. The deposit on the credit card to avoid the credit check was $200 plus the insurance daily rate.

Had otherwise no issues with my rental experience at Dollar. No surprise billing or sudden rate changes. The car was clean and operated correctly. Drop-off was easy. Wasn't charged any extra after the drop off, and my deposit was returned.

The only reason it wasn't 5 stars is that my flight and luggage arrived early, before my anticipated rental pick-up time, and I couldn't get in my rental until the scheduled time.

I rented a car from the dollar rental store inside the airport. I had to go back 2 times waiting over 2 hours. They had 2 employees working the lines with zero movement. Frustrating and not helpful getting people to the application that can check them in. Little effort was put into informing us on the hold up is. Will not be coming back!

I had an awful experience with this rental place. The front desk staff pressured me into buying their insurance, and then they gave me a car with a flat tire shortly after I rented it. Since I didn’t get their emergency roadside assistance, when I called for help, they said it would take 1.5-2 hours to respond. Even though I never used their service, they still charged me $87 because I didn't cancel in time. My bank disputed the charge, but the company is still demanding payment, and I've been dealing with this for two months. Save your money and go somewhere else!

I checked in online before my trip, when I got off the plane I had an email to pick my car, then I was given the lot number to the vehicle I chose, the key was inside and I drove out. It was fast and easy. At the end of my stay I drove up to the car rental return and was told to leave the keys in the car and they would email me the final receipt. I got the email the next day with no hidden fees and they returned my deposit. I had a great experience.
