I was browsing the store and had listed and taken photos for roughly $150 worth of everything from educational to kitchy items for my granddaughters upcoming birthday,
when I was rudely told that I took too many photos,(3) and was told to leave.
I have never felt so insulted in my life and would Never recommend these arrogant people to anyone.
yet some items are hard to find and I will have to search for them elsewhere now.

I have been a few times to this store and the staff have always been friendly and helpful. I went today to get a baby gift for a friend's grandchild . They suggested a few options, and then left me to look around. I bought 3 items and everything was so beautifully wrapped with gorgeous paper, cellophane and ribbons. Their merchandise is upscale but not unreasonable. They also have beautiful quality dinner napkins with unusual designs.

STAY AWAY!!!

I’d been a customer at this place for years as my hairdresser is right next door. I had bought a couple of bathroom rugs from them, but the colours were off and when I returned them, the owner gave me a handwritten credit note. The next time I was there and wanted to use my credit note (about $170) he said there was a mistake and that he only owed me 60$ instead (even though he had written the credit note himself)! He took my credit note, would not return it, and started to be extremely rude and loud saying things like, “Lets finish this shit”!!!!!!!!! I was shocked and totally speechless and told him that I was a customer and that he needs to be respectful, but he continued being rude and basically acted quite disgustingly. I have no respect for this person as a man. He should not be allowed to operate any business which deals with the public as he acted like an uneducated, unpolished, abusive, and crude goon with no manners and no filter. Shame on him! I’m positive he treats the ladies that work there the same way!

It’s the first time I’d seen him there. Had he been there more often, his business would have never survived and would have been bankrupt a long time ago.

I believe in supporting businesses that have kind, caring individuals running them, not those who are run by bullies and thugs.

He doesn’t deserve your business!!!!!!

This afternoon my son and I stopped into Boutique Surprise, after an appointment. We had chatted a bit with a saleslady there, and I had told her how I had wanted to show my son the store because I had always found interesting things there. We were browsing a long table full of knickknacks. My son, who is 12, was showing me an eraser he had found, in the shape of a hamburger. He opened the flap of the box it was in, to feel the eraser.

All of a sudden a man appeared next to us and yelled at my son, “Put that down! You’re touching everything! You’re not allowed!”

Surprised, I said, “He just wanted to see what the eraser felt like, he wasn’t damaging anything.”

The man said angrily, “He’s been touching everything! It’s not a museum!”

As my son closed up the box with the eraser, head down, ears red, I said quietly, “I don’t appreciate that. He wasn’t doing anything wrong.”

Even angrier, the man said, “If you don’t like it, you can leave the store!!”

So we did, and we won’t go back. Very creepy experience, that left my son feeling terrible.

I was at Boutique Surprise with my 8 year old grandson today. This place had a great selection of toys and the staff was so pleasant and patient with us as we looked at which toys to buy (I'm not surprised, my grandson is so adorable...) And while I was there, I bought a beautiful picture frame. I only have great things to say about this boutique and their staff and I'll definitely go back!

My feelings about this store have changed completely after my last visit there. I have shopped in Boutique Surprise for the six years I've lived in the city for all sorts of occasions. The staff is generally friendly if a little bit snobby for retail clerks- but it's Westmount so ?.
This last time, though...
I'd just gotten bad news following an appointment in Westmount Square, and, in order to compose myself and cheer myself up a bit, I went in with the intention of finding my daughter some writing materials for her birthday. Per usual, I was acknowledged and asked if I needed any help and then left to browse. I was looking through disorganized stacks of stationery- the stacks of same sized boxes held multiple styles, other columns had fallen over... you get the idea. I was looking through the boxes and putting them back on the shelf where they had been.
An older man marched and pointed at the shelf and said, "DID YOU DO THAT?" What? "Make this mess!" I said that I was looking for stationery and was having trouble finding a second (undamaged) box of a certain style stationary. But the shelves were disorganized and a disaster when I came in.
He looked me up and down and then pointed to a section of cluttered, damaged boxes of stationary and said, "you might like these. They are our least expensive options." It was EXTREMELY evident that this man thought I was stealing. Stationary. Because of course.
I was wearing comfortable clothing and not wearing makeup because it's not recommended when you know you're going to get bad news. Apparently, thats not the appropriate dress code when you are shopping for wrapping paper and impersonal but expensive gifts.

An unexpected little surprise. I was early for an appointment and I was wondering the mall. I somehow found myself in the store filled with cute little surprises. You will definitely find something special to bring home for a loved one. Thank you Boutique Surprise!! My daughter loves Stella!!
